Kia has introduced the Kia K4, aimed at replacing the Cerato
The automaker Kia has unveiled its new compact sedan, the Kia K4, slated for release in 2025, which will replace the Forte, also known as the Cerato. Sales of the new model in the U.S. automotive market will begin in the second half of 2024. Externally, the Kia K4 resembles the flagship Kia EV9. The novelty stands out with hidden door handles for the rear row. Special attention has been paid to the spacious interior of the new sedan, which is said to be one of the roomiest in the compact segment.
The Kia K4 sedan is equipped with modern safety systems, including an enhanced ADAS driver assistance suite. Additionally, the car features an infotainment system with a large display integrated with the digital instrument panel and support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
In the U.S. automotive market, the Kia K4 will be available with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine producing 147 horsepower paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). American buyers will also have access to versions with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine developing 190 hp and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
It was previously announced that Kia does not plan to actively develop its lineup of plug-in hybrids, as consumer demand for such models is not as high as expected. Nevertheless, Kia will maintain interest in PHEVs. It’s worth noting that a similar viewpoint on the electrification of the automotive industry is shared by Mercedes-Benz, which last year ceased work on new petrol-electric models to fully focus on electric vehicles.
