Mitsubishi has ceased its efforts to turn the new Pajero into a crossover

According to information from the Japanese automotive magazine Best Car, Mitsubishi has abandoned the idea of transforming the iconic Mitsubishi Pajero SUV into a crossover. This information stems from leaked internal data.

Previously, the same publication reported plans to turn the Mitsubishi Pajero into a crossover, aiming for a less bulky and rigid vehicle more suitable for urban conditions. According to the initial project, the new Pajero was supposed to adopt a unibody construction and feature more modern equipment. However, it is now known that the company has decided to retain the body-on-frame construction, borrowing it from the new Triton SUV. These plans were confirmed by a company representative, who stated that the manufacturer aims to preserve the recognizable exterior appearance of the updated Pajero.

The official unveiling of the new Mitsubishi Pajero may take place in 2027, according to the announcement.
