Sales of Xiaomi’s first electric car, the SU7, have commenced in China. The vehicle was announced in December 2023. This electric sedan boasts a length of up to 4.9 meters.

The Xiaomi SU7 stands out with its sculpted hood, LED headlights, panoramic roof, active spoiler, and integrated headlights. Additionally, the car is equipped with a built-in transponder for toll road usage, a special camera for driver recognition, and a radar positioned behind the windshield.

At the start of sales, the Xiaomi SU7 will be available in two variants. The first variant is a rear-wheel-drive sedan with an electric motor producing 300 horsepower. Additionally, a 673-horsepower version of the Xiaomi SU7 with all-wheel drive will be offered. The maximum speeds of the new cars are 210 and 265 km/h, respectively.

Tesla is preparing to release a new electric car model under the temporary name Redwood by mid-2025. The new vehicle will be marketed as a «compact crossover» designed for mass appeal. The preliminary starting price is estimated to be around $25,000. According to experts, the more affordable price of this crossover will allow Tesla to compete with Chinese rivals, including BYD, a company that surpasses Tesla in sales volume. According to sources’ forecasts, Tesla plans to produce about 10,000 of these electric vehicles weekly.
